Abby Shroll Captain America: The Winter Soldier delivered an action packed plot line that culminated into a hold-on-to-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller. Swoony Captain America (Chris Evans) and fierce Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) combined their wickedly impressive skills for the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.
Marvel has been known for pushing the line in the world of comic books and the movies based off from them have been equally as epic. Captain America: The Winter Soldier should be no let down to fans and is a clear production of Marvel.
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers was deemed unfit for the military in the 1940s. He volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into the superhero everyone knows him as, Captain America. He becomes a war hero and a symbol of America as the country is busy fighting Soviets. By his side is his best friend, Bucky Barnes, and his love interest, Peggy Carter. In the end, Captain America wakes up in a seemingly normal environment, but realizes he is in the 21st century. He had been frozen for many years and not only woke up to a new time era, but was recruited to the agency S.H.I.E.L.D.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier picks up after the disastrous events that took place in New York City during The Avengers. Throughout the movie, Captain America struggles with the morals of the 21st century and the adjustment to the modern world. Nick Fury, head of S.H.I.E.L.D., is killed by mysterious Soviet assassin, the Winter Soldier. Before Fury’s death, he alerts Captain America that the agency S.H.I.E.l.D. has become destabilized by enemies and to trust no one. Captain America becomes marked as a traitor by S.H.I.E.L.D. after refusing to tell Fury’s warning. Captain America, equipped with his shield, and Black Widow, massed with lethal skills, join forces to expose the conspiracy that threatens the world. They also enlist the help of their new friend, The Falcon. Along the way, the Winter Soldier is constantly trying to kill the alliance and Captain America soon learns the identity of this mysterious assassin. The entire movie is full of non-stop action that kept me thoroughly entertained as many secrets that were unlocked along the way. There were also humorous parts that allowed for a wide variety of viewers to be pleased. While Marvel has a lot of background information, the movie was surprisingly easy to follow. Marvel productions are known for their after credit scenes that often foreshadow a future movie. In this case, the short clip set up for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you like action, suspense, and humor, then you will not be disappointed with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. If you still have yet to see the first movie, get some of your friends and have a Marvel marathon! |
