Music: it’s everywhere --- in the store, on the radio, and on your T.V. It’s so easy to get caught up in music, but most of the time, it’s all the same. Everywhere you go, you hear the same song being overplayed, and it’s gotten to the point where you’re actually tired of music. Finding new and refreshing bands and artists to expand your music taste isn’t easy for everyone, so here’s a list of musicians who are slowly rising to fame, but are worth checking out.

  1. The Front Bottoms: Formed in Woodcliff, N.J., this pop-punk band’s meaningful lyrics will pull you in, along with lead singer, Brian Sella’s vocals. The Front Bottoms have self-released 3 albums, 4 EP’s, and formally released 4 albums and EP’s.

  2. Young Rising Sons: “High”, alternative rock band, Young Rising Son’s most known single, will leave you feeling on a high after listening to it. Though they’ve only released one EP, they’ve toured with The 1975, Weezer, and The Neighbourhood, while working on their first full length album.

  3. Daughter: Daughter, a London-based, indie folk band, is the kind of band to listen to on a rainy day. Their album, If You Leave, is full of slow, deep songs that are perfect to fall asleep to.

Oh Honey: Lead singers, Danielle Bouchard and Mitchy Collins, will leave you in happy spirits, as the duo’s “I Love You Will Still Sound the Same” and “Be Okay” are the kind of songs to listen to when you feel lovey dovey or need some comfort. The folk pop duo currently have two EP’s out, and are getting ready to tour across America.

  5. Lucy Rose: Singer-songwriter, Lucy Rose, was born in Camberley, Surrey, England and has one indie folk album released. Several songs written by her have appeared in, The Vampire Diaries, Catfish: The TV Show, and Skins. Her newest single, “Our Eyes” is available for pre-order on iTunes.

  6. CHVRCHES: Pronounced as “crunches”, this Scottish-based, electronic/synthpop band is known for its

“clean”, but energetic sound. Their single, “The Mother We Share” was a success, with almost 40 million plays on Spotify.

Aplin’s best known song, “Please Don’t Say You Love Me” is off her album, English Rain, which is certified gold in the United Kingdom for selling over 100,000 copies.

  9. Alex & Sierra: Pop duo and power couple, Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton won the third season of The X Factor USA for Kinsey’s Jason Mraz styled voice and Deaton’s raw vocals. The couple were mentored by Simon Cowell, and were the first group to win the American version of the show. Their first album, It’s About Us debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200.
