Abby Shroll American Authors have been recently associated with their head boppin’ song, “Best Day of My Life” that has caused many to break out in the robot at four way stops. This single is off of their new album Oh, What a Life, which came out March 3. And while their single, “Best Day of My Life” (also featured as an acoustic version on the album) is as catchy as they come, it’s still not their best off the CD, which is saying a lot. Their new album is full of good vibes that can quite honestly convince anyone to take the world by storm. American Authors started their magic in 2006, when they were then known as “The Blue Pages”. It wasn’t until 2011 that they officially changed their name to what we know them as today. Their sound is very indie-rock and they are comparable to the likes of Imagine Dragons, Bastille, or OneRepublic. Two songs in particular, “Hit It” and “Luck” off the new album surpassed my expectations for the band and showcased the great sound an exemplary group can produce. However, if I were asked to pick a favorite song, I couldn’t. The entire album is fantastic and I have nothing to critique. The band also creates a rad harmony throughout their songs that combines into one unique unit. For example, listen to “Trouble” to experience the noteable harmonies firsthand. After all, as statement on the bands website reads, “We express our experiences as a shared unit, through music and an agreement of sound.” So if you want that good “I can do anything” feeling, then you should probably stop reading this and purchase a copy for yourself. I assure you that if you do purchase it, it will be the best day of your life. |
