Whether you’ve been together for years or just started dating a month ago, plan something special for you and your significant other this Valentine’s Day. There’s so many ways to make the day special for the two of you. It all depends on you and your dates’ interests.

If you’re one that doesn’t mind the cost, take them out for dinner and then go see a movie afterwards. It’s cliche but dates like that never get old. Make sure to make reservations at the restaurant you’re going to though, because standing around and waiting for four hours might not be your date’s idea of a romantic evening.

If you still want the whole “romantic candle-lit dinner” aspect of Valentine’s Day, but don’t have the money to go through with it, just make a special dinner at home. Then, if you want, go out for a dessert. This way, you still get to go out, but you aren’t spending as much money. A homemade dinner could even be a better option than going out, as your significant other will see all the thought you put into your special night.

Last, but most certainly not least, is the laid back Valentine’s Day date night. A personal favorite, all you need for this date is take-out, some blankets, and a movie. Especially if you’ve been dating for a long time, it isn’t really necessary to go all out on Valentine’s Day. Order Chinese or a pizza and snuggle up to your date’s favorite movie.

Be sure to talk to your significant other to see what they want to do, and if you two want to do completely different things, then compromise. Most of the time it doesn’t take a lot to make your other half happy; they really just want to spend time with you. It doesn’t matter what gifts you get or how you spend the day together, it’s all about taking time out of your day to see them and let them know how much you care about them.
