Remember the Junie B. Jones series that defined many of our 1st through 5th grade years? It was probably the first unassigned chapter book we read. The award-winning author of this series and other children's books, Barbara Park, passed away last Friday after a long struggle with cancer. She was 66 years old and had written and published over 30 children's books. In her most well-known series Junie B. Jones, we were entertained with the quirky character and hilarious grade-school life of Junie B. Jones. Park's Junie B. Jones taught us to do what makes us happy and not take life too seriously; two lessons that, especially now as high school students, we should remember every day.
