The annual Locks of Love event will take place on May 12 during the school day. This event was established in memory of Amanda Simon, a Van Buren student who died of cancer.

Locks of Love benefits children under the age of 21 who suffer from hair-loss, and at least 10 inches of hair is required for donation. Bleached hair will not be accepted, but dyed hair is welcome. After the hair is cut, the donors will also have their hair styled for free. Donors will also receive a certificate for their participation, and an assembly will take place in the high school gym to showcase the new hairstyles to the school.

For those who are not comfortable with getting their hair cut at the school, there are a participating stylists and other organizations that cut hair for this or similar causes, although they may not be free.

Anyone interested in joining this cause can see Mr. Daniels for more information!
