The VB boys’ basketball team were the underdogs in Tuesday night’s sectional game against Tinora, but that didn’t stop the Knights from pulling out the first tournament upset as they won 74 - 67 against the Rams. Senior Sawyer Junge (27) and freshman Braxton Fasone (20) were the top scorers for VB who was losing at halftime 27 - 34. Early in the fourth quarter, a stellar defensive performance resulted in a flurry of fast break lay-ups that put Fasone at the foul line where he shot 9 for 13 to put the Knights in the lead for the first time in the game. Senior point guard Daniel Roberts dished out four assists while continuing to lead the offense after receiving his fourth foul in the third quarter. Junge pulled down nine rebounds and also had four assists. The Black Knights will play in the sectional final game this Friday night at 6:15 p.m. against Paulding. A bus to take students to the game in Defiance is scheduled to leave at 5 p.m. The sign-up sheet to ride the bus is in Coach Hite’s office. |
