Alyssa Miller Senior singer and dancer, Alli Arthur, in Van Buren’s show choir, The Association, was excited to perform at their fourth competition of the season in Medina, Ohio on Feb. 14, 2015. The group did not place, but enjoyed the experience at such a large competition. Being in the show choir is a lot of fun and competitions are even more fun to Arthur. She enjoys being able to talk with her friends all day. “It is really rewarding when your hard work pays off,” she says of competing. This show choir season has been Arthur’s favorite because there is a theme, but it can be difficult to get such a big group on board at times. “There are a lot of members and sometimes they can be unmotivated.” Arthur says she will miss the underclassmen she is going to leave behind. She will also miss being able to get out onstage. “There is a way I can’t express myself other than through show choir,” she explains. Arthur plans to attend Bowling Green State University but is undecided in her studies. “I want to do something in education, but I am not sure yet,” she says. Along with show choir, Arthur is involved in varsity choir, women’s chorus, and varsity softball. She works at Tim Horton’s as a general team member. In her free time, she enjoys petting her dogs, loving Disney, and singing when she talks. What is your favorite number (song)? “Willie and the Hand Jive” because all of the songs in previous years have been more serious. This song is super fun and I love the choreography. If you could be any princess, who would you choose and why? Probably Elsa because she found who she was without needing a guy to help her. She’s very independent. Dream song for the show choir to perform: “Circle of Life” What movie do you think deserves an Oscar? Oculus What has been your favorite competition? Fairfield because they have awesome stages and it felt like a huge party the entire time. Favorite Disney character: Simba |
