The first official baseball practice started Monday, Feb. 24, and this will be Irving’s third year playing for the Black Knight baseball team after taking a year off last year to focus on his golf career. “I missed the sport like crazy, and I wanted that ‘family’ feeling again,” said Irving. He can’t wait to get back onto the baseball field, and is looking forward to the final season of his athletic career.

Gliding Stars has impacted Irving for the past two years while helping his sister, junior Jen Irving, skating with their fun-loving, energetic star. Volunteering at The Cube isn’t a hassle for this generous senior, simply because he loves seeing the smile on his star’s face week after week as he makes continuous improvement.

Irving plans to attend Bowling Green State University next year, coming back every Sunday to continue volunteering at Gliding Stars while he is working towards a degree in education

What’s the number one thing on your bucket list?

To go skydiving.

Who is your biggest role model, and why?

Mr. Heitkamp. He has taught me so much about being a man with lessons that relate inside and outside of school. He is always there for me, and always has my back.

If you had to pick your favorite high school memory, what would it be?

It happened this year after we found out we were going to state. Coach Heitkamp screamed his head off once we got on the bus, and I thought it was the funniest thing ever. He was more excited about the news than I was.

Who was your first crush?

Kelly McCartney.

Who would you choose to play you in a movie, and why?

Leonardo DiCaprio. I have a man crush on him.
