Nichole Miller Soccer The girl’s soccer team finished their season with a record of 10-7-1. The lady black knights made it to the district semi-finals where they lost to Riverdale 3-1. Out of many of this year’s accomplishments, Madi Endicott, senior team captain said, “Beating Fort Jennings was the biggest accomplishment of the season because it’s never been done in the history of the program.” The team graduated three seniors, Abby Shroll, Mary Davidson, and Madi Endicott, and will be revealing their league and district honors on Nov. 6. The boys’ soccer team went 11-7 on the season. They were sectional champions and lost to Ottawa Hills 3-2 in district semi-finals during overtime. The boys’ team will graduate eight seniors this year, Ted Simmons, Daniel Roberts, Cody Neumeister, Corey Spoon, Jon Rafferty, Alex Dewey, Laike Matthes, and Michael Domke, and they have not yet publicly revealed their league and district honors. Golf Boys’ golf finished with an overall record of 5-1 just in dual meets and qualified for the state tournament for their fourth consecutive year. After placing 3rd in their district, they finished their season in 11th place at the state tournament. Senior Sawyer Junge received the honor of first-team all-league as well as first-team in the Northwest District of Ohio. Sawyer was among the top six golfers in the district. Also receiving first-team all-league honors was Mac Williams and second-team all-league went to Jimmy Irving, Aaron Franklin, and Zach Hiris. Receiving honorable mention was Cole Ohlrich and Nick Overmyer. The girls’ golf team had a successful season with a record of 20-7 in dual and tri-matches. The lady black knights placed 5th in districts just missing the chance to move on to the state tournament. The team was awarded 1st place in the Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League (South Division). Ashley Overymyer was named player of the year and first-team all-league. Erin Neall, Carlee Schmelzer, and Emily Foust all also received first-team honors in the league. Receiving second-team all-league honors were freshmen Zoie Nieto and Ashley Franklin. Football The black knight football team has a current record of 4-5 with one game left in the season. The football team will graduate five seniors, Jake Kelly, Joey Nelson, Colin Hiatt, Kurt Gibson, and Nick Hoehn. As of now, league honor winners have not been announced, but on Nov. 5 the BVC banquet will be held where the honor recipient will be recognized. Volleyball Volleyball finished with a record of 3-19 and have not announced the players that will receive league honors. When asked, senior captain, Paige Sudlow said, “The biggest achievement of the year was learning what worked and what didn’t, and never giving up no matter what the score was.” The volleyball team used this season as a learning experience and will graduate two seniors, Paige Sudlow and Shelby George. Cross Country The Black Knight cross country teams are done running and the boys team finished with a winning overall record of 67-54 and the girls finished with the winning record of 61-50. Seniors Joel Schumacker, Michelle Flanagan, and Rachell Resnik (who placed first in the district meet) made it to the regional competition where Joel placed 35th, Michelle Flanagan 34th, and Rachell finished 29th. Resnik also set the school record for the overall girls’ cross country running a time of 19:49. |
