Paige Sudlow As spring approaches it means two things for Van Buren students and staff: the 3 on 3 basketball tournament and the Jennifer Masters dodgeball tournament. This will be the second year of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament to raise money for the senior class trip to Chicago. Students in grades 9-12 and any teachers are able to participate in the tournament on Friday, March 7. (*Note: the date will change to Saturday, March 8 if the boys’ basketball team is still in tournament.) The admission fee is $10 per person and teams will be randomly selected with three people and each will need to come up with a unique name. Sign-up forms are available on the school website, or in the high school office. The weekend after the dodgeball tournament is the 9th annual Dodgeball Tournament to raise money for the Jennifer Masters Scholarship that is awarded to one senior every year that meets the requirements. Students in grades 6-12, alumni, and teachers are able to participate. The tournament will take place on Friday, March 14. Teams will consist of five players, middle school is coed, and high school is split into a girls’ bracket and a boys’ bracket. In order to play each team member must pay a fee of $10 and must have a name for the team. If there are any questions Mr. Heitkamp is the man to see, and sign-up sheets are hanging up right outside of his room for those who want to participate. March holds two fun-filled weekends in a row for Van Buren, so grab a few buddies and join in on the friendly competition to support a great cause and make lasting high school memories. |
